We are sometimes asked to help out with websites for charities, and we do our best to help out. When we were recently asked by FOP Action, an organisation aiming to raise awareness about Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva which is a rare disease, we were only too happy to help.
FOP is a rare progressive illness where extra bone is formed around the joints which restricts movement. Its medical dictionary description is "an inherited generalised disorder of connective tissue in which bone replaces tendons, fasciae, and ligaments. There are only 45 known cases in the UK and the aim of the site is to raise awareness, as well as to raise money to help with the research into a cure. FOP is often misdiagnosed as cancer, and is characterised by malformations of the big toe, followed by painful swellings on the shoulder, back and scalp area.We have provided FOP Action with a brand new domain name, a new logo and a website that they will be able to add to and update themselves. We have based the site around a Wordpress blog and designed a template so that the site has a clean and simple look, with a good navigation. The site makes use of the Pages section of Wordpress for all of the information about FOP and how to get help, as well as the Posts section which will be used for latest news and updates.
We hope that this website will last FOP Action for many years to come and will help to raise awareness and help bring together the families who are dealing with this terrible illness. We aim to remain in close contact with FOP Action and help where we can with further development.
Added: We would like to thanks all the people who have offered their support to the FOP Action website and to Indigo Clothing for offering to do some t-shirt printing for free for them so that while they are holding fundraising events they can promote the cause even more and to Steve from Click4Beds for offering Jasmine a new memory foam mattress to help her get comfortable at night.
