TikTok allows brands to connect creatively with consumers and promote their products. Over the years, TikTok has become a pivotal platform for generating an audience since 2016. It’s expected to see 1.8 billion users by the end of 2024!

In the beginning, it was people dancing and lip-syncing to music trends. It’s not just about that anymore since TikTok has integrated the business side of things.

This side of TikTok gives you access to analytics and tools, you can reach a much larger audience than when it first started, you’ll see an improved engagement rate, the opportunity to generate sales through the TikTok shop and run paid advertising for further reach for your business.

Promoting your Business with TikTok

TikTok offers one of the largest platforms for attracting viewers for businesses looking to expand their reach and connect with their audience.

Setting up a TikTok account allows you to tell your brand’s story, and your USP, and showcase the personality behind your products. Being active on social media and putting a face to your business is a great way to build a reputable brand.

TikTok is driven by trends, so the first step is to learn how it works through trial and error. TikTok is also built for creativity and entertainment, making it the perfect platform for captivating content and practical how-to guides and tutorials.

Marketing your Content with TikTok

Content typically lasts between 15 and 60 seconds, with a quick visual style. You can upload several minutes worth of video. However, we recommend incorporating your marketing message subtly into an engaging video in under 2 minutes or preferably, less.

How-to Guides/Tutorial Videos

These normally go down well. For example, if you’re a DIY-type business, provide tutorials like “How to install laminate flooring” or “How to install wall panelling”. This is currently what I’m watching and trying to learn myself! Whilst this particular example of videos may not go completely viral at first, at least you will reach a specific audience that your business is looking for. These viewers will be looking for help for their home improvements. They will also engage with your videos and business further down the line if you keep the consistency going with your video content.

Type of TikTok Ads

For businesses that are looking to reach a wider audience quickly, TikTok offers a variety of advertising options. You can use Spark ads to promote videos you have already shared organically. You might want to boost a popular video or even one from another user (you’ll just need their consent of course). In contrast to in-feed ads, the video remains on your profile after the ad period ends.

Video ads differ from other advertising in that they are targeted at a specific audience within a budget. 

Unlike spark ads, these ads are temporary and disappear after the campaign ends.

There are a variety of options for calls to action on both types of ads, which include directing users to a particular webpage, downloading an app, visiting your website, or making a purchase. Based on your recent ad performance and the type of account you have, TikTok Ads Manager can also suggest the most effective call to action for you.

Engaging with your Audience

You can reply to comments left on your video by posting another video response on TikTok. By responding directly with a video, you can engage more effectively with your audience and may even draw more attention to your earlier videos.

This is also good for keeping up the volume of your videos in case you need fresh video ideas and remain consistent. We all know the algorithms favour consistency across most, if not all social media platforms!
